The question is not WHY did Bob Dylan win a Nobel Prize for Literature. The question is WHY has it taken this long? The second bard, the traveling Wilbury, he who makes us look at that which we (do not always) want to see.
“He wants to scatter poems from airplanes across the landscape
He’s some kinda poetic nut Like he thinks he’s Dylan
Thomas and Bob Dylan rolled together
He wants to lip-read everybody’s thoughts and feelings
and longings…”
— ‘The Love Nut’ by Lawrence Ferlinghetti
Plus, he was the original sign holder 🙂
Thanks Bob!
So amazing! ^_^

Yes, John, it seems to give some hope in these ridiculously troubled times!

The news was a welcome break from the dreary combativeness of the election news cycle. Music, Literature, poetry and art have always been an escape and a comfort for me and Bob has been a constant presence for me since I was a teen-ager three million years ago. This gave me a good excuse to dive back into some of his work and wash away some of the grime the world has deposited in my soul lately.

Good for you! Add some positive vibes and know that all is not lost. Art, music, poetry tell of our civilizations — what we really are and the potential we have. Keep the faith, my friend 🙂

He didn’t accept it though — an I’m not at all surprised …! (So far at least?)

Yes… I suppose he has his reasons, which must be important to him. He will however, still be listed as a recipient, whether he accepts it or not. David Bowie refused knighthood lol, and Bruce Springsteen refused an invitation to the White House.(which there was a really good reason for.) Albert Einstein refused the Noble Prize also. So I am sure all these people have their reasons…
