A good month for exploring the myths and writing the prose. Nice post, thanks for sharing and reminding me, at least, of the myriad beasts waiting to appear in my stories 👻
My pleasure, I love myth and monster myself…in fact, I posted the bones of a story yesterday on my blog. If you like horror then your opinion of it would be very much appreciated. Not that I’m here to self promote lol
Great month for it though, as you so rightly say 😊
‘…on the window looking in’ Have you ever seen that classic Scandinavian film (the original)Let the Right One In? if not, it is a treat.
Loved the scattered effect of the verse too.
Thank you! I am so glad you watched my video. The chant is by Mediaeval Baebes, a piece called ‘How Death Comes’. Hope you are having a great Halloween season!
Loved it! I could watch that video over and over – beautiful images and great sound track! We’re heading towards Beltane down here but it always feels like Halloween to me 🙂
I’ve always been disappointed we don’t have an equivalent to Halloween in Australia. Celebrating in the spring/summer just doesn’t seem right. I loved the video. My vampire fix is satisfied, but craves for more…… 🙂
Thanks Alyson! It’s funny, I was just telling one of my Aussie friends, I wish Halloween in the US fell at a warmer time of year! Though rightfully it is the summer’s end.
Glad you liked the video. I post vampire stuff regularly, so stay tuned 🙂
Although I roll my eyes at people in Facebook groups who claim they are a 245 y/o vampire/witch, I am forever fascinated by vampire lore, fiction, and films. As a Jewish child, I was freaked out that we didn’t have crosses, and asked my parents if a Star of David would repel a vampire just as well! Scariest vampire book: Salem’s Lot. Most interesting vampire book: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.
Also, thanks for the Baebes musical inclusion in your video. They just don’t get enough press. Those Celtic Woman steal all their thunder I guess….

Thanks Gary! Yes, for me October is another good excuse to write about myth and monster 🙂

Oh yes, that is a great one! They did an American version too but it was not as good 🙂

As always, a delight! Love your poem, the visuals and I’m a great fan of chanting so it rounded the post off exquisitely!

Thanks! I made the video myself so the images will look familiar. All my beautiful vampires heheh 🙂
I actually used to say Halloween should fall during WARM weather, it would be a lot easier on the Trick-or-Treaters!

It sure would! Although we’ve had some pretty hot weather in October which makes wearing some of the outfits really difficult 🙂

Thanks! I often wonder why more was not made of the Baebes — they are probably the most talented women on the planet!!
I love Anne Rice’s vampire books. Ironically, crosses are never used in them, haha. Thanks for reading 🙂
