“I wasn’t scared; I was just somebody else, some stranger, and my whole life was a haunted life, the life of a ghost.”
― Jack Kerouac, On The Road
Halloween is almost upon us. The veils are thin and our thoughts often turn to the dearly departed, the occult, spirits and worlds unknown. Have you ever wondered what sort of ghost you would be in the afterlife? This completely unscientific, just for fun quiz will let you know!
Take the quiz here:

As for me…
Apparently I would be a Banshee.

“You are the Banshee. An Irish ghost known for crying or screaming to warn people of a death in their family.”
I am Banshee, too: “You are the Banshee. An Irish ghost known for crying or screaming to warn people of a death in their family.”

I’d be a Cheonyeo gwisin, a Korean ghost “created from the souls of those who couldn’t fulfill their purpose in life before their death…They are said to primarily haunt those they knew when they were alive.” That was fun, Christine.

Hmmm, sounds like an interesting — and a bit sinister — type of ghost! Thanks for taking the quiz. Have a great Halloween! 🙂

I think Banshee suits you! At least you are doing something good. The ghost I got – not so helpful. 🙂
Zmora
The zmora is a ghost from Slavic folklore that enters a persons room through keyholes. Once in the room, the zmora sits on a persons chest and attempts to strangle that person.
Happy Halloween!

Ahh, I have heard of this legend before, but not this particular ghost! I have seen many paintings of the “demon on the chest”. It doesn’t suit you, though!
I do kind of like the Banshee. She gets a bad rap but it would be nice to know for sure when someone is going to die…
Happy Halloween to you too! 🙂

Apart from the Slavic origins which is me, I was surprised to get this ghost. I lived in a haunted house when I was young and woke up screaming because I felt something on my chest trying to suffocate me! We had an Orthodox priest come to cleanse the house. We have another name for this ghost but it is one that comes up in a lot of legends and artworks.
I’m kind of happy I’ll be celebrating Beltane this weekend and not Halloween! 🙂

Wow, that is a scary experience! Do you think the priest was successful in his “cleansing”?
Oh, I thought you always kind of did Halloween and Beltane together? But have fun whatever you do 🙂

I think the priest stuff worked for the suffocating ghost but it remained a creepy house to live in. Thankfully we didn’t live there too long.
It’s been a long time since I’ve felt the Beltane vibe so I’m going for it! We’ve just fought through a second wave in Victoria and are coming out of lockdown so we’re celebrating a return to life which fits Beltane. But the shadow of the pandemic is still here so it will have a Halloween essence which suits me. 🙂

Wow, interesting! I love haunted places, but the ghosts I have encountered have all been friendly.
You should definitely celebrate Beltane! I am wondering what may happen here as temps get colder. There is talk of Chicago going back on full lockdown, It will definitely be a lower key Halloween, but I will still commune with the Dead 🙂

Of course you get the friendly ghosts! All the ones I’ve met have been terrifying!!
I’m worried about the countries heading into winter. It can be a scary time of year but with a cold loving pandemic it’s even scarier.

I think that is why I always believe ghosts are loving and kind spirits.
We will get through this pandemic! 🙂

I got La Llorona: La Llorona is a ghost from the folklore of many South American countries. La Llorona is said to be the ghost of a woman who was forced to walk the earth until the day she can find her children that she drowned. In most legends, she is said to wander around at night, constantly crying, and occasionally kidnapping and drowning any children that resemble her own.
