Rain shatters deep earth
Roots burst yellow perfection
Long awaited blooms
Arabesque before the sun
April healing winter’s cold
** Note: Inspired by T.S. Eliot’s ‘The Wasteland’.
“April is the cruelest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.”
Happy National Poetry Month!
Enchanting!

I love The Wasteland… full of esoteric references. Nice poem

Thanks. I too love the Wasteland — afraid my inspired poem is a bit ‘simple’ haha 🙂

Not at all… Eliot aimed for difficulty.

And Eliot loses me within the stanzas sometimes… so I just chose a tiny part.

Although I adore T.S.E., as an April baby I love your poem more! Sure, we’re not part of the cruelest month, we heal! ❤

Thanks Clarissa! April is definitely NOT a cruel month — I’d say it is one of the most hopeful/ cheerful, with the world waking up!
